Motor Rewind Technician (Columbus, NE)

JOB SUMMARY:

Rewind various kinds of electromechanical equipment

WORK PERFORMED:

  • Inspect various kinds of electromechanical equipment for damage and evidence of electrical malfunctions.
  • Test condition of windings according to EASA Standards.
  • Illustrate and/or document all relevant data specific to unit’s electro-magnetic characteristics, operating conditions, existing damage, or intended serviceability.
  • Dismantle and/or strip damaged or unserviceable electro-mechanical equipment.
  • Prepare all reusable parts for rewinding and inspect renewed parts for hidden, structural damage or unusual conditions.
  • Rewind various kinds of electro-mechanical equipment, including but not limited to:  single-phase, three-phase, dc fields, armatures, wound rotors, and transformers.  Observe proper insulation techniques and/or requirements during rewinding.
  • Test rewound electro-mechanical equipment according to EASA Standards and document test results.
  • Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Operate specialized repair and testing equipment, including but limited to:  winding machines, test panels, surge testers, core-loss testers, cut-off saws, burnout ovens, bake ovens, grinders, cranes, forklift trucks, brazing units, dip tanks, and various handheld power and non-power tools.
  • Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear (especially eye and ear protection).
  • Keep work area neat and clean as directed by supervisor.
  • Perform other skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Preferred minimum level of education:  High School Diploma preferred, but not necessary.  Become an expert in a unique trade, we will train!  Candidate should like to work with hands and have a desire to learn about mechanical equipment.  Limited work with electricity, will train safe practices.  Ability to understand mechanical measurements & use of various mechanical measurement tools.

Northwest Electric, LLC is a 24 hours, 7 days a week, 365 days a year sales and service operation.  With that in mind, all employees are required to provide the company with an effective means of communicating with them, when necessary, on an after-hours basis.  Overtime is considered an essential function of this position.

SPECIAL SKILLS:

Ability to understand, perform and retain various skill-related training and operational and safety procedures demonstrated by supervisor.

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Read job cards to determine job status, work authorizations and limitations, estimate, description of problems, and/or expected serviceability.
  • Testing electro-mechanical equipment to troubleshoot known or suspected problems using various methods (ac or dc).
  • Disassemble electro-mechanical equipment noting part identification, configuration and condition.                             
  • Clean electro-mechanical equipment assemblies as needed using various methods and steps, including but not limited to: parts washers/steamers.                                 
  • Note proper replacement parts and correctly requisition needed items as approved by supervisor.                                  
  • Replace or repair worn or defective mechanical or electro-mechanical assemblies, including but not limited to: bearings, brushes, fans, end bells, fan shields, etc.                         
  • Re-testing reassembled electro-mechanical equipment for proper output and operation.                              
  • Complete required paperwork for each job accurately and on a timely basis.                               
  • Operate specialized repair and testing equipment and other equipment not limited to: test panels, surge testers, high pot, tester, grinders, cranes, fork lift trucks, megger, various handheld power tools, non-power tools.                                  
  • Observe all safety procedures and use proper protective gear.                               
  • Keep work area neat and clean as directed by supervisor.  
  • Assist other mechanics or other shop personnel in skilled or non-skilled duties as directed by supervisor.                                 
  • Work all hours needed to satisfy Northwest Electric, Inc. customers including nights and weekends.                                  
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Basic mechanical aptitude.                            
  • Ability to understand, perform and retain various skill-related training and operational and safety procedures demonstrated by supervisor.                                 
  • Ability to deal with customers effectively and promote strong company image. 
  • Good communication and rapport skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Job Summary:

Operate various machine tools to manufacture and repair mechanical assemblies.

 

Work Performed:

  • Record all data necessary to produce expected service and/or design results, including sizing and illustrations.
  • Use measuring devices and techniques correctly to assure proper sizing.
  • Perform milling operations such as drilling, tapping, boring, and conventional milling and lathe work.
  • Perform various metalizing (spraying metalizing) techniques as needed.
  • Understand materials and applications as required.
  • Perform various welding operations, including setup and use of MIG, TIG, aluminum torch and stick welders.
  • Use various hand-held and stationary power and non-power tools, including but not limited to:  band saws, hand grinders, files, etc.
  • Lift, tighten, adjust, and/or secure heavy objects in order to perform work and/or to observe safety precautions.

Job Summary:          

Perform a wide variety of duties specific to handling incoming and outgoing customer work through estimating and scheduling customer jobs.

Perform a wide variety of duties specific to handling customer sales through processing quotations and sales orders.       

Perform a wide variety of duties specific to incoming and outgoing vendor shipment and warehouse maintenance.

 

Work Performed:

Schedule, track and coordinate repair processes among departments to ensure timely completion of jobs and customer satisfaction.

Communicate with customers, relative to estimating and delivery of jobs for repair.

Contact vendors to establish price and availability of replacement parts and/or repair items for customer jobs.  Complete purchasing activities via purchase orders.

Analyze and maintain active jobs report on a weekly basis. 

Review and maintaining correct Branch physical inventory on a consistent basis.

Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned by Branch Manager.

Assist walk in customers, pull orders, and load customer product.

Analyze and maintain open order and open quotes reports on a weekly basis.

Process new product sales, receiving, invoicing, and credits.

Attend company- or vendor/manufacturing-sponsored training seminars to improve product knowledge and/or job skills.

Answer incoming phone calls and route call to proper departments.

Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Keep work area neat and clean as directed by Branch Manager.

Ability to work well with others under pressure as a team.

Perform a wide variety of duties related to timely ordering of stock and non-stock products and inter-departmental transfer of items for the Company.

Monitor all open purchased orders and bring to resolution any outstanding issues.

Assist in handling purchasing of all shop equipment and supplies.  (Such as paint, rewind, bolts, materials, etc.)

 

Qualifications           

The preferred minimum level of education:  high school diploma.  Some background in general mechanics, warehousing, computer literacy, and phone sales is desirable, though not essential.
